27,000 people converged on the Gateway Bridge on Sunday 7 November to compete in the 25th anniversary of the Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane.

The highly anticipated return of the course to the Gateway Bridge after a 6 year hiatus saw runners and walkers revel in the opportunity to pound the pavement and take on the challenge to tackle the 800m uphill run to the top of the Gateway Bridge and the smaller (but no less intense) Inner City Bypass hill.

Thanks to the generous support of the community, the event raised a record-breaking $1.2 million for charity. As sponsors of the event, Team Transurban raised an incredible $400,000 for long-term charity partner Ronald McDonald House Charities SEQ (RMHC). The money raised will fully fund RMHC’s in-hospital emergency accommodation located inside the Queensland Children’s Hospital for another 12 months supporting around 800 families each year when their child is critically ill in intensive care. The money will also fund room upgrades at Ronald McDonald House Herston.
