Australia’s deepest road tunnel, NorthConnex opened to motorists in the early hours of Saturday 31 October, completing the missing link in Australia’s national transport network.

The dual nine kilometre tunnel, linking the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills, features large 3.5 metre lanes and will accommodate vehicles up to 5.1 metres high.

NorthConnex is designed to take 5,000 heavy vehicles off Pennant Hills Road and allows motorists to bypass up to 21 sets of traffic lights.
