As lockdown restrictions are reimposed and people continue to avoid public transport for essential travel, we’re reminding cyclists of the dangers of riding on major motorways.
While it’s illegal for cyclists to ride along CityLink, at the peak of Melbourne’s first lockdown our Incident Response Crews were seeing around two cyclists a week access the road – putting themselves and those around them in danger.
We have eyes on the road 24/7 and our crews arrive to an incident in as quick as a few minutes, but we want to avoid incidents from occurring in the first place. So please, if you’re on a bike do not access CityLink.
If you’re using GPS for navigation make sure you change the settings to find a route suitable for cycling.
