Incident response vehicle.

We’ve appointed Egis as our long-term incident response and maintenance (IR&M) partner for our roads in the south of Sydney , following a competitive tender process that reviewed how we deliver safe, reliable, and efficient services across our roads.

Egis will deliver integrated incident response and maintenance across all roads within the South Package which covers our WestConnex assets, the Eastern Distributor, and the Cross City Tunnel. Egis brings extensive experience in complex motorway and tunnel operations, including its long‑term role delivering operations and maintenance services across WestConnex and previous incident response work on key Sydney corridors. This experience positions Egis to support Transurban’s evolving operating model and the increasing complexity of urban motorway operations.

Customers can expect:

  • Safer trips, supported by enhanced operational coordination across connected roads
  • Enhanced responsiveness, with an optimised, dynamically deployed incident response fleet
  • Smoother journeys, enabled by improved monitoring tools, including AI enabled technology that helps us detect and address emerging issues early
  • More consistent service, underpinned by aligned standards and a long-term delivery approach.

These customer focused improvements reflect best practice across major road networks globally, where integration, innovation and responsiveness are central to successful operations partnerships.

This appointment strengthens our long-standing relationship with Egis and sets up a stable platform for joint planning, investment and continuous improvement. The long-term nature of the contract supports a shared focus on evolving customer needs and advancing technology.

Supporting the future of road operations

The simultaneous expiration of IR&M contracts in NSW has created an opportunity to undertake a comprehensive review of service delivery across the NSW portfolio. This aligns closely with our operating model changes and has enabled us to redesign our interfaces with partners.

Transurban is transitioning to a Network Strategic Partner model for IR&M across NSW, moving away from asset by asset contracting toward our refreshed north-south approach that better supports how we operate. To support this shift, two packages have been established: Northern and Southern.

This partnership is an important step in shaping the next generation of incident response and maintenance across our roads. Together with Egis, we’ll continue to focus on safety, reliability and smarter technology — delivering better journeys for the millions of people who rely on our toll roads every day.
