We’ve increased our commitment to climate change action by adopting new greenhouse gas reduction targets which focuses our efforts on decarbonising our business.
Our new targets comprehensively cover scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with climate science, and have been externally validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The new targets will accelerate our progress towards United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 13, ‘Urgent climate change action,’ and apply to all aspects of our operations.

The Science Based Targets initiative is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature. The initiative defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting and independently assesses companies’ targets.
Targets adopted by companies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are considered “science-based” if they are in line with what the latest climate science says is necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement—to limit global warming to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursue efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.
Transurban is the first ASX20 company to have targets validated by SBTi.
