The annual Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is back on Sunday, 13 September 2026, for its 30th year. Transurban has been a long-term supporter of Queensland's largest fun run, with a record 40,000 people expected to participate in this years event, by taking on the iconic Gateway Bridge to support a great cause.
This year, Transurban is proud to announce its new charity partner for the event, leading road safety educator BRAKE. This partnership will support BRAKE’s work in delivering road safety education to high schools across South East Queensland, helping young people build safer thinking, habits, and decision-making skills before they get behind the wheel.
Transurban Head of Road Safety, Liz Waller said:
“Safety on our roads is a responsibility we take very seriously. This partnership with BRAKE is about being proactive and supporting young people with the skills they need before they even get a licence.
“Through an iconic community event like the Bridge to Brisbane, is the perfect way to support young Queenslanders and champion safer behaviours for everyone on the road.”
The positive impact of BRAKE’s program is already being felt by South East Queensland students.
St Peter’s Lutheran College Springfield Year 10 student and program participant, Aleena Merrish said:
“The BRAKE program has been so eye-opening. Now I know how important it is to consider the risks.
“I learned that our brains at this age are still under construction when it comes to navigating stress and making judgements, so it's important to remember this when I'm learning to drive and on the road.”
