Following a proactive internal review by Transurban Limited and subsequent voluntary disclosure to the Workforce Inspectorate Victoria (WIV), Transurban Limited acknowledges that 15 former employees were underpaid their long service leave entitlements upon termination in breach of the Long Service Leave Act 2018 (Vic) (LSL Act).

These underpayments ranged from $86.26 to $5,597.71 per instance, totalling $18,361.11.

These underpayments were the result of calculation errors. Upon identifying the issue and self-reporting the matter to the WIV, Transurban has since contacted the affected former employees to apologise and remediate all outstanding long service leave entitlements in full.

Following charges being brought by the WIV on 3 February 2026 in the Magistrate’s Court in Victoria, the matter is being dealt with by way of a diversion program, requiring relevant undertakings, the making of a donation of $40,000 to Westjustice, a community justice organisation in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, and public acknowledgement of Transurban’s contraventions.

Transurban acknowledges its breaches of the LSL Act and unreservedly apologises to the affected former employees. Transurban sincerely regrets the calculation errors that led to these contraventions.

The obligation and responsibility to ensure compliance with the LSL Act rests on every employer. Transurban takes its employee entitlement obligations extremely seriously and has taken steps to improve its processes and systems to prevent any recurrence. Transurban is committed to ensuring ongoing compliance with all of its obligations under the LSL Act.
