Our incident response crews are the heroes of our motorways. No matter where you are on our roads or in our tunnels, if you’re in need they’re here to help 24 hours a day 7 days a week. But you’re the ones in the driver’s seat, and you can be road safety heroes too.
This Queensland Road Safety Week (24-28 August) we’re encouraging all motorists to sign up for road safety and share your road safety tips, while the Gateway Bridge will be lit yellow to remind you of this important cause.
David McLoughlin, General Manager Operations Queensland, said our operations team have eyes on the road 24-7 and are ready to respond if you are involved in an incident or broken down.
“These men and women really are the heroes of our motorways, responding to motorists when you need help most,” David said.
“But at the end of the day you’re the one driving - you can take steps to prevent incidents and to keep you and your passengers safe. That’s why our message for motorists this Queensland Road Safety Week is that you can be heroes too.”
Here are some of the team’s top tips to stay safe on the road and avoid incidents:

- Plan your journey, including your route and fill up with fuel.
- Avoid distractions and put your phone away.
- Keep your distance, maintain a safe gap between vehicles.
- Remember, emergency Stopping Bays are only for emergencies.
